Two wanted operatives of the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) have been deported from Malaysia following a joint operation by central intelligence agencies and Punjab police, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav announced on Friday.

Gurwinder Singh of Ambala and Manjeet Singh of Patiala were apprehended by Punjab police upon landing at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi and brought to Punjab for investigation.

"The two were key Malaysia-based nodes of a KZF-backed terror module involved in targeting critical railway infrastructure, including dedicated freight corridor lines in Punjab," the DGP said.

Punjab police had earlier arrested "four highly radicalised" people after dismantling the ground module responsible for an IED explosion on the Sirhind railway track on January 23, 2026, and an attempted explosion on the same track at Shambhu in Patiala on April 27.

During that initial operation, police teams recovered one rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher, a 2.296 kg metallic IED complete with detonators and a battery, two packs of RDX weighing 1.456 kg, two hand grenades, and six high-end pistols with accompanying magazines and ammunition.

The DGP said, "The subsequent investigations into the transnational conspiracy uncovered the involvement of KZF handlers and financial facilitators operating from Malaysia. The deported accused were found to be instrumental in channelling terror funds through offshore accounts to KZF operatives in Punjab, facilitating plans to execute terrorist attacks to disturb peace and public order in the state."

Both accused were produced before a court in Patiala on Thursday and have been remanded to police custody for further interrogation.

Offene Fragen

  • What specific offshore accounts were used for terror funding?
  • Are there other KZF operatives in Malaysia?
  • What is the extent of KZF's network in Punjab?
