Hsinchu County is planning to develop its rich railway heritage into a new tourist attraction. A proposal suggests creating a hiking trail at the Fengshan Creek bridge abutment ruins, linking it with natural ecology and cycling routes to boost railway tourism.
Hsinchu County Mayor Yang Wen-ke and Zhubei Mayor Cheng Chao-fang both invoked "justice lies in people's hearts" but with different interpretations. Yang highlighted county government's contributions to Zhubei's development, while Cheng emphasized his achievements within the limited scope of a mayor's authority.
DPP legislator Wang Shih-chien suggested Hsinchu County Magistrate nominee Cheng Chao-fang might be forced to run due to threats about revealing family matters. Wang stated Cheng is a suitable candidate but appears reluctant, possibly due to external pressure. He believes past family business issues shouldn't affect Cheng's political career.
Hsinchu County students achieved outstanding results at the 114th National Student Dance Competition, securing multiple top awards in both individual and group categories. Notably, Zhuang Chenjie from Liujia High School won first place and the "Best Dance Skill Award" in the junior high individual folk dance category. Songlin Elementary School also celebrated success with two first-place individual awards and a third consecutive championship in the elementary modern dance group category.
Taiwan has received a shipment of 28 tanks at the Port of Taipei, the most significant upgrade to its armoured forces in decades. The tanks were transported overnight under police and military escort to the Armour Training Command in Hukou township, Hsinchu county. They will undergo final inspections and integration training before entering service, replacing ageing CM-11 Brave Tiger and M60A3 Patton tanks in use for over 20 years.
