Osaka High Court orders government to pay damages over detainee's injury
The Osaka High Court ordered the Japanese government to pay 880,000 yen (US$5,400) in damages to the family of Vladimir Burgos Fujii, a Peruvian man of Japanese descent, who was injured in 2017 while being restrained at an Osaka facility. Fujii died in 2023.
