Mother of murder victim confronts accused outside Meerut court in blue drum case

The mother of Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer murdered on March 4, 2025, confronted the accused—his wife Muskan Rastogi and alleged lover Sahil Shukla—outside a Meerut court on Tuesday. Renu Devi demanded the death penalty, crying that she gave them Rs 50,000 monthly yet they killed her son. The accused allegedly stabbed Rajput, dismembered his body and sealed it inside a cement-filled blue drum, a case that has drawn nationwide outrage. Twenty-two witness statements have been recorded in the trial before District and Sessions Judge Anupam Kumar.
