Diljit Dosanjh Supports Student Protesters After Delhi Police Crackdown

NEW DELHI: Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh on Tuesday extended support to the student protesters associated with the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) agitation, saying they should not have been treated the way they were during Monday's crackdown in Delhi. In an Instagram Story, Dosanjh urged the authorities to listen to the students' demands and wrote: "Aj Jo hoyea Baut Maada Hoyea.. Students Naal Edan Treat Nhi Hona Chaida c.. Diljit Dosanjh took to Instagram to express his concern

The singer also referred to the criticism he faced after supporting the farmers' protest, saying he had previously been labelled "anti-national" and expected similar accusations again for backing the students. His remarks came a day after the CJP's 'Sansad Chalo' march towards Parliament ended in clashes between protesters and police in central Delhi.Delhi Police has since registered an FIR at Connaught Place Police Station against unidentified persons in connection with the violence and alleged vandalism during the march. CJP, meanwhile, has accused Delhi Police of using excessive force during the crackdown, alleging that volunteers were beaten and dragged on roads. The party also claimed Sonam Wangchuk 's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, was dragged out of a truck by her hair during the police action. Activist Sonam Wangchuk, who remains admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, has continued his indefinite hunger strike, saying he would carry on after witnessing what he described as the "brutality against peacefully protesting youth." The protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar continued on Tuesday, with CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke remaining at the site as supporters carried on their sit-in despite overnight rain.
