Lucknow Coaching Centre Fire Kills At Least 15

Lucknow coaching centre fire: Disturbing visuals have emerged from Lucknow’s coaching centre, where a devastating fire ripped through a commercial complex in Aliganj, killing at least 15 people. According to eyewitnesses, many people jumped from the centre, located on the first floor. A video captures a man falling while attempting to escape.

In one video, the man is seen climbing out through what appears to be a shattered window of the building. He attempts to cling to a ledge but loses his grip, falling onto a fence before landing on the ground below. Bystanders quickly rush to help him and move him to safety. He sustained injuries in the fall and is currently undergoing treatment.

Tragedy struck Lucknow's Aliganj area when a deadly fire originating in a coaching centre and gaming zone, spread quickly, forcing desperate attempts to flee the spot. Harrowing visuals from the scene showed people jumping from the first floor of the building to escape as thick smoke and flames engulfed the premises. Several people were reported injured in the incident.

"Every single item is being moved and checked, and every room is being inspected. There was a lot of wooden furniture inside, and the smoke is obscuring visibility. Fire brigade personnel are inside and NDRF teams are also on-site," Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak Pathak told NDTV.

"The fire broke out suddenly. Children used to come here to learn animation. I have not received any information yet on exactly how the fire broke out. The injured are being sent to the KGMC Trauma Centre... They were around 16-17 years old. Orders for a high-level inquiry into the incident have been issued," he added.

Lucknow fire incident: Yogi Adityanath cuts short his visit

Taking cognisance of the tragedy, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and directed senior officials to immediately reach the site and oversee rescue and relief operations. He instructed authorities to expedite evacuation efforts, ensure proper medical care for the injured, and extend all possible assistance to those affected.

The Chief Minister also asked the police and district administration to submit a detailed report on the incident, including the cause of the fire and any possible safety lapses. In response to the situation, Yogi Adityanath cut short his visit to Aligarh and returned to Lucknow. He is expected to visit the incident site after reaching the city to review the ongoing relief work.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was anguished by the deaths and announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who have died and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

"Anguished by the loss of lives in a fire mishap in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. My condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover at the earliest. Rescue operations are underway and authorities are providing all possible assistance. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi," the Prime Minister's Office wrote in a post on X.
