Trump, Top US Leaders Evacuated From White House Correspondents Dinner After Reports of Shots Fired

US President Donald Trump and other top US leaders were evacuated from an annual White House correspondents dinner in Washington on Saturday night after reports of shots fired at the glitzy, high-profile event. The president, first lady and cabinet members were uninjured as the event broke up and the first family returned to the White House. A member of the White House press pool reported hearing the bangs as Secret Service members swarmed the banquet hall, their guns drawn, before quickly ushering senior officials and the gathered reporters out of the room. A short while later, the social media-gripped president posted about the incident. "Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job," Trump recounted. "They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we 'LET THE SHOW GO ON'." Trump quickly added, however, that he would follow the guidance of law enforcement, which soon advised him to head back to the presidential mansion. Trump followed that up a short while later with another post saying the event would be rescheduled for 30 days later and that he would hold a press conference in a half hour after returning to the White House.
