STOCKHOLM, May 22. /TASS/. Negotiations between Moscow, Washington, and Kiev on resolving the conflict in Ukraine are not currently underway, but the US is ready to mediate in this diplomatic process, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated.
"There are no such talks occurring at this time, but we hope that will change," he told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Sweden. "They (the talks - TASS), were not fruitful, unfortunately. <...> [But] we stand ready to continue to play that role," the top US diplomat pointed out. According to him, "if someone else would like to handle it, they should." "But it doesn't appear to be anybody else in the world right now that can handle it," Rubio emphasized. "We're also not interested in getting involved in an endless cycle of meetings that lead to nothing," the top diplomat noted.
He also emphasized that there is no military solution to the conflict in Ukraine. "It will not end with a military victory by one side or the other, at least from a traditional standpoint of how military victories are defined," Rubio emphasized.
