KBO Breaks Attendance Record, Reaches 2 Million Fans in Fewest Games

The South Korean baseball league surpassed 2 million fans in the fewest games in its history Saturday. The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said its attendance for the 2026 season reached 2,094,481 through 117 games, after the five games contested Saturday drew a combined 99,905 fans. The previous record had been 118 games it took to reach 2 million fans in 2025. The KBO went on to establish a single-season attendance record in 2025 with over 12.3 million fans. This season, the KBO surpassed 1 million fans on April 10 after 55 games, also a record by five. The league is averaging 17,902 fans per game so far this year, up from 16,596 fans from the same point a season ago. And with four more sellouts Saturday, 65 of 117 games have been played at packed stadiums. The four sold-out games were: the LG Twins against the Doosan Bears with 23,750 fans on hand at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul; the Kiwoom Heroes hosting the Samsung Lions at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul in front of 16,000 fans; the Lotte Giants visiting the Kia Tigers before 20,500 fans at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field in the southern city of Gwangju; the Hanwha Eagles hosting the NC Dinos with 17,000 fans at Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark in the central city of Daejeon. The Eagles have sold out all 13 home games so far this season, but they have won just three of those 13 games.
