Sakshi Chaudhary wins women's 51kg boxing gold at Commonwealth Games

India's Sakshi Chaudhary continued the country's golden run in boxing by defeating England's Ruby White to claim the women's 51kg gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games on Saturday. The Indian boxer delivered another composed performance, defeating the home favourite by unanimous decision to hand India its third boxing gold medal of the day.

Sakshi dominates opening round

Backed by a vocal home crowd, White began the contest aggressively in an attempt to put Sakshi under pressure. However, the Indian remained patient, making full use of her height and reach advantage while carefully timing her counters. Although clean punches were limited, Sakshi landed the more effective shots and convinced all five judges to award her the opening round. White came out with greater urgency in the second round, but Sakshi stayed composed, combining solid defence with accurate counter-punching. The Indian connected with a couple of clean punches while continuing to frustrate her opponent's attacks. Her superior ring control earned her the second round 4-1, leaving her just one round away from the title.

Unanimous decision seals gold

Sakshi maintained complete control in the final round, repeatedly landing crisp right-hand punches while using her left hand effectively to block White's attacks. The English boxer continued to press forward but struggled to trouble the Indian, who remained calm throughout the closing exchanges.

When the final bell rang, the judges unanimously declared Sakshi Chaudhary the winner, crowning her the Commonwealth Games women's 51kg champion. The bout ended on a sporting note as both boxers embraced after the result was announced, capping another memorable victory for India. With Sakshi's triumph, India completed a remarkable run of three boxing gold medals on the day following the earlier successes of Preeti Pawar and Jaismine Lamboria, while Jadumani Singh settled for a silver.
