SEOUL, July 8 (Yonhap) -- Taihan Cable & Solution Co., South Korea's second-largest cable company, said Wednesday it has secured a 45 billion-won (US$30 million) order to supply a high-voltage cable system in Australia.

Taihan Cable won the turnkey contract from Transgrid, the operator of Australia's largest high-voltage electricity transmission network, to supply a 330-kilovolt (kV) high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) cable system for an artificial intelligence data center (AIDC) under construction in Australia, the company said in a press release.

Under the turnkey contract, the company will be responsible for the entire project, including engineering, manufacturing, installation and testing, it said.

"A stable electricity supply is essential for the operation of AIDCs. Building such facilities requires a high level of technical expertise and a proven track record in similar projects. The company will continue to pursue business opportunities in the value-added power infrastructure market," a company official said.

The company had a cable order backlog worth 3.82 trillion won at the end of March.
