Twin Major Earthquakes Strike Venezuela, Killing at Least 188 and Causing Widespread Destruction

Two powerful back-to-back earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude struck Venezuela on Wednesday evening, killing at least 188 people with the toll expected to rise significantly. Buildings collapsed in several areas including La Guaira, residents slept in streets and cars, and the government has called for international assistance while social media restrictions were partially lifted to aid information sharing.
