
UNHCR Report: Refugee Numbers Decline, But Long-Term Displacement and Poverty Persist
UNHCR's 2025 report indicates a 3% decrease in global refugees to 41.6 million, yet 70% face long-term displacement and poverty. Afghanistan, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, and Venezuela remain top origin countries. Children constitute a higher proportion of refugees (39%) than the global population (29%).
