Aliyev said that the UN played no role in the implementation of resolutions on Karabakh

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that the United Nations did not play any role in the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on Karabakh.

Four UN Security Council resolutions adopted in 1993 were implemented by Azerbaijan independently in the fall of 2023.

The President of Azerbaijan made a statement at a meeting in the SCO+ format within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek.

The United Nations did not play any role in the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions on Karabakh, said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“Four UN Security Council resolutions adopted in 1993 were implemented three years ago... Unfortunately, the UN did not play any role in the implementation of these resolutions. Azerbaijan itself has fully restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Aliyev said at a meeting in the SCO+ format within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek.

Kyrgyzstan is hosting the summit as the organization's chairman this year. Events within the SCO and the SCO+ format are attended by representatives of 17 countries and six international organizations, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The events are chaired by the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov.
