Russia and Vietnam opposed blocking sovereign assets

MOSCOW, Sep 9 - RIA Novosti. Russia and Vietnam opposed the blocking of sovereign assets and property of countries, according to a statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam To Lam.

The text of the Joint Statement on further strengthening Russian-Vietnamese relations of comprehensive strategic partnership at a new stage was published on the Kremlin website.

"The parties are convinced of the need to strictly adhere to the principle of sovereign equality of states and international obligations concerning the immunities of states and their property (including sovereign reserves), and do not support initiatives related to the blocking, use, or seizure of assets and property of foreign states," the statement reads.
