Four children were hospitalized with acute intestinal infection in Dagestan. As Rospotrebnadzor reports in its Telegram channel, all of them are students of the private secondary school “Raduga”.

Department specialists have already begun an investigation into the mass poisoning. An anti-epidemic team arrived at the site, whose members conducted laboratory tests and monitored the health of the victims.

“During the inspection, a number of gross violations of sanitary and epidemiological rules were revealed, [in particular] a violation of the flow of the technological process: the separation of the flow of dirty and clean dishes was not ensured, which, given the existing layout of the premises, creates a direct threat of cross-contamination of the finished product,” the statement said.

In addition, catering department employees did not undergo regular medical examinations and hygienic certification. Moreover, the school sold dishes prohibited for children's food.

“According to preliminary data from the epidemiological investigation, the suspected factor in the transmission of infection was ready-made meals prepared in the school’s catering unit. The route of transmission of infection is food,” stated Rospotrebnadzor.
