A minibus carrying farm workers fell into an irrigation canal in Turkey, injuring 19 people.

A minibus carrying agricultural workers fell into an irrigation canal on the Urfa-Akcakale highway in the Koruklu region, injuring 19 people, including children.

The victims were taken to hospitals; while the consequences of the accident were being eliminated, traffic in the direction of Akcakale was blocked.

ANKARA, September 6 - RIA Novosti. Nineteen people, including children, were injured when a minibus carrying farm workers fell into an irrigation canal in southeastern Turkey, the DHA said.

The minibus was traveling along the Urfa - Akcakale highway in the Koruklu area. The driver lost control, after which the car drove off the road and overturned into the canal.

“Doctors, firefighters and gendarmes arrived at the scene. Rescuers removed all 19 victims, including children, from the minibus,” the publication clarified.

The injured were taken to hospitals in Akcakale, Harran and Sanliurfa. While the consequences of the accident were being eliminated, traffic in the direction of Akcakale was blocked and a traffic jam formed on the road.

The minibus was removed from the canal using a tow truck and crane.
