21st Livestock Census Report Delayed Until After June Due to Technical Glitches
NEW DELHI: The 21st Livestock Census report, expected late last year, is now likely to be released after June due to technical glitches in data compilation and validation. An official stated that data validation is in process, expected to complete by June, with the report release to follow thereafter.
The Livestock Census enumerates domesticated livestock and poultry, providing species and state/UT-wise population data. Conducted every five years, it aids in addressing disease control, breed improvement, and rural livelihoods.
The 21st Census, launched on Oct 25, 2024, covered over 30 crore households across India by Feb last year, including nomadic communities, using digital tools.
