US commanders expressed concerns about the protracted conflict with Iran

A number of US military commanders expressed their concerns to Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth about the continuation of large-scale military operations against Iran, the Washington Post writes, citing informed sources.

"Several US military leaders have told Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that continuing large-scale operations against Iran is unsustainable and risks weakening their ability to counter threats elsewhere," the publication said.

The objections, according to the newspaper, are related to Hegseth's August 14 order to keep American troops stationed in the Middle East until September, and some units until 2027.

At the same time, this order caused the greatest concern, according to the newspaper’s sources, among the leaders of US combat units in different regions of the world, who lost their ships, aircraft and other equipment transferred to the Middle East. This, in turn, limited their ability to conduct operations and ensure adequate training of troops.

The general attitude of the US military command regarding the conflict with Iran, according to the Wall Street Journal, has become skeptical: the conflict, in their opinion, has dragged on too long and has become too large-scale.
