The Tverskoy Court of Moscow arrested a member of the Orekhovskaya organized crime group, who had been hiding for 30 years.

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow arrested Dmitry Aleshin, a member of the Orekhovskaya organized crime group, who had been wanted for almost 30 years. A video of him was provided to Lenta.ru by the press service of the capital’s courts.

The footage shows a man accompanied by a convoy, to whom the court announces the decision to arrest.

The defendant was sent to a pre-trial detention center until October 7. He is charged with participation in a criminal community, extortion and reprisal against investigator Yuri Kerez, which was committed in 1998 in the Moscow region.

According to investigators, Aleshin, at the direction of the leaders of the organized crime group, put pressure on entrepreneurs and demanded from them monthly payments for the “criminal roof.”

His brother, 52-year-old Alexander Aleshin, was detained along with him. They hid from law enforcement agencies for 28 years and lived on fake documents. The brothers were part of the brigade of Dmitry Belkin, nicknamed Belok, who received a life sentence.

In 1998, Kerez was the first in Russia to open a criminal case under Article 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Organization of a criminal community”) against the leaders of the Orekhovskaya organized crime group. The gang leaders decided to eliminate him and sent a killer who lay in wait for Kerez at his house in the evening. The investigator was fatally injured.
