A fatal car accident occurred on Paijiebao Road in Tucheng District, New Taipei City. In order to improve the safety of this road section, Li Youqin, chief of the Traffic Safety Section of the Municipal Transportation Bureau, said that the Transportation Bureau has adopted a multi-pronged approach of "lane adjustment, lowering the speed limit, diversion of large vehicles, and advance warnings" to improve safety in August. At the end of the year, the section of Shuijiebao Road heading towards Banqiao from Minquan Street to Jin'an Street has been gradually adjusted to mixed lanes, and the upstream and downstream lane configurations have been improved, warning signs have been added, speed reduction has been implemented, and large trucks have been prohibited from turning right onto the Jin'an Street ramp during peak hours to reduce the risk of vehicle intersection.

Li Youqin said that when Paijiebao Road passes the Jin'an Street ramp in the direction of Banqiao, some vehicles need to change lanes to the outside, which is easy to intersect with cars and motorcycles going straight. In order to allow vehicles that want to enter the Jin'an Street ramp to have more space to change lanes in advance, the Transportation Bureau will change lanes in advance. The section from Street to Jin'an Street has been adjusted to a mixed lane, and the lane configuration and motorcycle parking areas at the upstream and downstream ends have been improved to reduce the emergency situation near the ramp. In addition, the speed limit of this section has also been lowered to 40 kilometers, and graphic signs and billboards have been added to the upstream section.

Li Youqin pointed out that taking into account the high traffic volume of automobiles and motorcycles on Paijiebao Road during the afternoon peak hours, large vehicles require a large space when turning, which easily increases the risk of traffic intersection. Therefore, during the daily traffic peak hours from 7 to 9 o'clock and 17 to 19 o'clock, large trucks over 15 tons are prohibited from turning right onto the Jin'an Street ramp; large trucks heading to Tucheng Industrial Zone can be diverted to Yuanfu Street or Futian Road.

The Transportation Bureau added that the traffic improvements on Paijiebao Road have been completed, and pedestrians are reminded to follow the on-site signs and line markings when driving on the improved road section, choose the correct lane in advance, do not speed or rush to the speed, and jointly maintain traffic safety.
