Russia and Egypt are interested in ensuring sustainable peace and security in the Middle East.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko held a meeting with the Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow Hamdi Shaaban, at which the situation around Iran and other issues on the international and regional agenda were discussed.

MOSCOW, September 9 - RIA Novosti. Russia and Egypt are mutually interested in ensuring sustainable peace and security in the Middle East, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.

According to the department, on Wednesday Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko held a meeting with the Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow Hamdi Shaaban, during which the parties held a detailed “synchronization of watches” on current Middle Eastern issues with an emphasis on the situation around Iran.

“Mutual interest in restoring long-term and sustainable peace and security in the region was emphasized. The importance of resolving the crisis through negotiations, which has no reasonable alternative, was noted,” the department said in a statement on its website.
