The relevant sanctions have not yet been disclosed. In this regard, the Sports Ministry stated that the player received a 45-day suspension from June 24 this year. The suspension period expired on August 8 and did not cover the Nagoya Asian Games period, so he can still compete normally.

The media broke the news that the track and field athlete was tested for sports doping in the second half of 2024, but the case took nearly two years and did not actually enter the results management process until 2026. The athlete received the relevant notice in late June this year, but the "Current Banned List" on the official website of the Sports Doping Prevention Foundation still found no matching track and field athletes. It is unknown whether the athlete has been banned and the period of punishment.

In response to this incident, the Sports Ministry explained that after consulting with the Chinese Sports Doping Control Foundation, a legal person, the case was sampled in 2024, and the foundation sent the specimens to the laboratory for testing. Subsequently, the Foundation did not receive notification of the adverse test report in this case until March 21, 2026. After receiving notification from the World Sports Doping Control Agency (WADA), it immediately initiated follow-up investigations and results management procedures, and in accordance with WADA CODE Article 17 stipulates that the retrospective period for sports drug violations is ten years, and WADA may require the results management organization to conduct result management for cases within the retrospective period. This case is still within the period specified by WADA, and the foundation will cooperate with WADA notification to handle subsequent result management matters.

The Sports Ministry said, "The testing, result management and violation identification of sports doping cases should maintain their professionalism and independence. Therefore, the Sports Ministry does not intervene in the actual judgment of individual cases. However, the Foundation accepts the government commission, and its administrative procedures and public funding implementation should still be subject to the supervision of the Ministry." The Sports Ministry does not want to reveal who the player is, but has asked the Foundation to provide relevant explanations and improvement measures regarding the case handling sequence, notification procedures and related administrative matters.
