Mourinho suffers his first defeat with Real Madrid and talks about the match

Portuguese Jose Mourinho suffered his first defeat this season during his second term as coach of Real Madrid, in a match that witnessed his protest against the refereeing and receiving his first yellow card.

Mourinho spoke about Real Madrid's level and said: "I think the team played a great match. Sometimes you lose without knowing why. This does not explain our complete control over the course of the game thanks to two strong defensive cores who controlled everything and many attacks and many opportunities. If the match had ended in a draw, we would have felt frustrated. Imagine our feeling from defeat."

Mourinho touched on the changes he made during the match, stressing that they were not due to his dissatisfaction with the level of the players and said: “The team has always performed well. Betis launched some counterattacks, as is usual, but the match went to Real Madrid.”

Regarding the performance of referee Hernandez Hernandez, Mourinho confirmed: “I do not know why I got the yellow card, but it was not bad. I got up because one of the Betis players seemed to be in a critical condition, but I cannot comment on the penalty kick and the disallowed goal. I did not see it and I cannot say anything.”
