Gao Jie said that in recent years, the China Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports Trade Union has implemented the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee, adhered to system linkage in accordance with the work arrangements of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, cared for teachers with heart and soul, and helped build a team of high-quality professional teachers. The main methods are:
First, adhere to "universal + special", provide solid service guarantees, and continuously enhance teachers' sense of gain, happiness, and security. First, we will carry out regular work to provide warmth in winter, coolness in summer, help in need, mutual aid and support for employees, and concentrated condolences on Teachers' Day, and continue to promote the improvement of working and living conditions. The second is to carry out special care activities to "warm the heart and benefit teachers" for rural teachers and national school teachers, and to establish staff homes for national school teachers. In the past two years, about 25 million yuan has been invested in organizing physical examinations, medical recuperation, etc., and helping and comforting nearly 4,000 people. The third is to launch a three-year action to promote employee health. In 2025, five major projects including lounge construction, mental health services, reasonable dietary services, cultural and sports activities, and recuperation for faculty and staff will be piloted in 24 provincial education unions and 8 university unions. The pilot experience will be promoted nationwide. The fourth is to organize "cross-provincial pairings" between the east and west. 12 provincial industrial unions in the east signed a three-year assistance agreement with 10 provincial industrial unions in the west. In 2025, they will carry out more than 100 activities and visit more than 10,000 faculty and staff.
Second, insist on promoting teaching through competitions, strengthen the National Youth Teacher Competition, and help young teachers grow and develop their careers. Up to now, nearly 6 million young teachers have honed their skills in the competition, and 49 winners have won the National May Day Labor Medal. A large number of participating teachers have supported the front line of teaching and grown into teaching backbones. The competition closely follows the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral integrity, adheres to the concept of "taking a good course", focuses on the ideological and political construction of courses and the construction of teachers' ethics, examines teachers' overall ability to control courses, and guides the exploration of the deep integration of artificial intelligence and subject teaching. Paying attention to the transformation of competition results, more than 700 videos of previous competitions are regularly broadcast, and the "Famous Teachers Lead" lecture tour for outstanding players has trained 2.7 million teachers in the past three years. The two parties in the "cross-provincial pairing" jointly carried out teaching seminars, demonstration classes, special trainings, vocational education alliances, etc., benefiting more than 5,000 teachers and students in the western region.
Third, extensively select and publicize advanced models to create an atmosphere of respecting teachers and valuing education. Adhere to the combination of centralized promotion of Teachers' Day and daily work promotion to demonstrate the professional value of teachers in a diverse and three-dimensional way. Since 2021, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions has awarded the education system 36 National May Day Labor Certificates, 612 medals, and 105 Worker Pioneer Awards. Among the national model workers and advanced workers commended in 2025, 235 are educators, accounting for nearly 10%.
Gao Jie emphasized that maintaining the dignity of teachers, protecting legitimate rights and interests, and paying close attention to the teachers are the responsibility of the union to serve the teaching team. In the next step, the China Educational, Scientific, Cultural, Health and Sports Union will work with relevant departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Education to expand work coverage, extend service reach, and raise the level of care so that every measure can truly warm the hearts of teachers. Continue to carry out a series of activities of "model workers and craftsmen entering campuses, and ideological and political teachers entering institutions", establish an alliance of model worker innovation studios, use the power of role models to convey the power of teachers, and drive the whole society to create a strong atmosphere of respecting teachers and valuing education. Collaboratively revise the "Regulations on the School Faculty and Staff Congress" to institutionally protect faculty and staff's rights to know, participate, express, and supervise, especially in matters involving everyone's vital interests, so that teachers can truly have a say and make the decision. Continue to promote the three-year action of employee health promotion, build and use the “employee home” well, and make the organization’s care visible and accessible.
