The Court of Appeal confirmed the guilt of former Mechel executives in the theft of shares worth 560 million rubles.

560 million rubles were jointly recovered from former top managers of the company Sergei Rezontov and Tatyana Prokofieva, as well as the ex-head of the investment company UFS Elena Zheleznova to compensate for the damage caused.

MOSCOW, September 9 - RIA Novosti. The appeal court confirmed the guilt of former Mechel executives in the theft of shares worth 560 million rubles, the company reported.

"Mechel announces the entry into force of a court decision in the case of the theft of 16 million shares of Mechel PJSC from the company's shareholders," the statement said.

The Moscow City Court upheld the verdict of the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow in a criminal case regarding the theft of Mechel shares, admitting the guilt of the convicts and satisfying the civil claim, the release clarifies.

560 million rubles were jointly recovered from former top managers of the company Sergei Rezontov and Tatyana Prokofieva, as well as the ex-head of the investment company UFS Elena Zheleznova to compensate for the damage caused.

Earlier, the Meshchansky District Court found the defendants in the case guilty of theft of 16 million shares of a coal company and sentenced them to seven years probation, releasing them from serving the sentence due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, and also recovered more than 0.5 billion rubles in favor of Calridge Limited, the owner of the shares. For ex-UFC head Elena Zheleznova, this was the third verdict.

The higher court considered the appeals of the defense on September 8 and confirmed the legality of the decision of the first instance, it follows from the release.

At the same time, the court made changes to the list of property of the defendants in the case and their relatives, which remain under arrest to ensure the subsequent execution of the civil claim and payment of compensation, the company added.
