Japanese poll: Gao City cabinet support rate rose to 62.5%, people have doubts about the effectiveness of reducing food consumption tax

(Central News Agency, Tokyo, 7th, comprehensive foreign news report) The latest poll by Japanese media shows that the number of people who "can support the Takaashi cabinet" increased slightly from the previous month's survey to 62.5%; however, 55% of the people believe that the measure to reduce the food consumption tax to 1% is "ineffective" as a countermeasure against rising prices.

A national public opinion poll in Japan conducted by Japan News Network (JNN) on the 5th and 6th of this month showed that the number of people who think "can support the Takaichi cabinet" increased by 3.3 percentage points from the previous month's survey to 62.5%; on the other hand, the number of people who think "cannot support" decreased by 2.7 percentage points to 34.9%.

As for the measures taken by the Takaashi Cabinet to counter rising prices so far, 40% of the public gave a positive evaluation; a total of 57% said they had "not a very positive evaluation" and "not at all".

Nippon Takaichi Sanae previously stated that it plans to reduce the food consumption tax from 8% to 1% starting in April next year for two years. In the survey, the number of people who responded "in favor" decreased by 1 percentage point from the previous month's survey to 51%; those who responded "opposed" increased by 3 percentage points from last month's survey to 42%.

As for whether the reduction of consumption tax as a measure to deal with rising prices is effective, a total of 43% said "effective" and a total of 55% said "ineffective".

If the food consumption tax is reduced to 1% and the consumption tax on eating out remains at 10%, when asked whether they would reduce eating out, 38% of the respondents answered "will consider reducing it" and 56% answered "will not consider reducing it".

As for restoring the consumption tax rate to 8% in two years, 37% of the respondents said they were "in favor" and 53% were "opposed".

In addition, Gao City is considering reshuffling the cabinet as soon as next week and adjusting the personnel of the Liberal Democratic Party. When people were asked about the scale of adjustment, the majority of people answered "it would be better to adjust to a certain extent", accounting for 40%.

As for the appointment of Liberal Democratic Party members who have not truthfully declared political donations to serve as cabinet members or important positions within the party, 73% of the respondents answered that they "think there is a problem."
