Feyenoord coach warns of a difficult task against Barcelona in the Champions League, the list of candidates for the Yashin Award is announced, and Hungary qualifies for the quarter-finals of the Basketball World Cup after a Japanese injury.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Feyenoord's Dutch coach, stressed that his team has a difficult task ahead of it when it visits Barcelona on Wednesday in the Champions League.

Bronkhorst said, in a press conference, on Tuesday: “I have wonderful memories here in Barcelona. I wore the team’s shirt for 4 years next to distinguished players, such as Messi and Ronaldinho, and we won the Champions League title, so I am part of the history of this club.”

He added: “Joining this club was a dream, and returning to play against it for the first time has a strange feeling. The Camp Nou stadium has become bigger.”

The Dutch coach continued: “It will not be an easy match in light of Barcelona’s strong start this season, in addition to having distinguished players in all positions. We must possess the ball, but it will be a difficult task against a team of this level. It is a great and exciting challenge.”

He continued: “It will also be a special opportunity for the Feyenoord players to express themselves. I do not feel intimidated or afraid, but rather I consider the match a wonderful challenge.”

He explained: “The Champions League is a different competition than the Dutch League. We must modify our playing style, because we will not get many opportunities, and we will be playing outside our homeland, so it will be a good opportunity to interact at a high level, and a useful lesson for all players.”

He stressed: “We must perform with great courage, and try to reduce the large differences between the two teams.”

Van Bronckhorst concluded: “Barcelona won the league title twice, and is looking forward to winning the Champions League title. This title was the most prominent achievement in my career.”

On Tuesday, the French magazine France Football revealed the list of candidates for the Yashin Award for the best female goalkeeper in the world for the year 2026.

The Yashin Award for Women was awarded for the first time last year, when England's Hannah Hampton, Chelsea's goalkeeper, won the inaugural edition.

Hampton seeks to retain the award, but she faces competition from the two goalkeepers who ranked second and third in last year's edition, the German Anne-Katrin Berger, the Gotham FC goalkeeper, and the Spanish Kata Cole, the Barcelona goalkeeper.

The list also includes Japanese Ayaka Yamashita, Manchester City goalkeeper, and Brazilian Lorena, Kansas City Current goalkeeper.

Berger and Cole hope to advance to the top of the standings this time, after finishing behind Hampton in the first edition of the award.

Rika Lilic led the Hungarian national team by scoring 23 points and 8 rebounds in its 84-63 victory over Japan in the Women's Basketball World Cup on Tuesday, qualifying for the quarter-finals to face the United States.

Viraj Takacs-Kiss also had 8 rebounds and 17 points for Hungary, which will face the four-time defending champions the United States in the final quarterfinal match on Thursday.

The match was overshadowed by a serious injury to Japanese thrower Saki Hayashi, who left the field after falling unexpectedly with what appeared to be a fracture in her right arm.

Hayashi needed immediate medical attention after a mid-air foul from Agnes Torok with one minute left in the second quarter. A blue blanket was placed to give her privacy, and the fans cheered warmly as she left the field.
