With the opening of beaches across the country, convenience store sales soar to mid-July levels

With beaches across the country opening sequentially, convenience store sales this month appear to be showing a similar trend to mid-July, the height of summer.

According to convenience store CU on the 22nd, sales at beachfront stores located in famous beaches across the country such as Haeundae, Gwangan, Gangneung, Sokcho, Yangyang, and Boryeong increased by 30.8% from the 13th to the 18th compared to the same period last year.

Sales during this period are at the level of mid-July in a normal year, and as summer has arrived quickly, it is analyzed that summer-related demand is also rapidly increasing.

Looking at sales by category at these beach stores, sales of tea drinks (58.0%), ice drinks (54.2%), bottled water (51.2%), and carbonated drinks (50.1%) jumped significantly, while sales of mats (270.5%) and tubes (150%) also increased significantly.

As convenience store products became more diverse, sales of cosmetics and clothing categories such as sun care (45.9%) and summer clothing (33.7%), camping supplies (408.3%), processed meat (46%), and fruits and vegetables (43.9%) also increased noticeably.

Accordingly, CU is in full swing to welcome summer customers by securing up to five times more inventory of products with high summer demand at beach stores across the country.

We plan to present popular products under themes such as 'Check zone before going to accommodation', 'Tonight's snack recommendation zone', 'Emergency battery charging zone', and 'Rain response zone'.

A CU official said, "Recently, it has been determined that many foreign tourists are looking for the beach location, so we are increasing the assortment of related products such as desserts, ramen, and convenience foods that represent K convenience stores. We will continue to implement a strategy to increase sales efficiency as well as purchase convenience by providing the most needed products at the right place at the right time."
