KMT Chairman Cheng Lai-wen went to Banqiao, New Taipei Province today (6th) evening to attend the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the arrival of Dachen folks in Taiwan. Cheng Lai-wen said in her speech that the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party has been going on for 70 years, and the history of blood and tears should not be repeated again. The two sides of the Taiwan Strait should turn their hostility into friendship, sit down and communicate with each other. She emphasized that only by fully promoting cross-Strait reconciliation and peace, getting rid of the front line of the first island chain war, and striving to win the local elections in 2026 and rotate political parties in 2028 can we bring about permanent peace, stability and prosperity on both sides of the Strait.
Cheng Lai-wen today attended the 70th anniversary commemoration of the arrival of Dachen folks in Taiwan. In her speech, Cheng Lai-wen pointed out that Taiwan Strait and Taiwan were witnesses of history. 70 years ago, the world entered the Cold War. After 70 years, everyone should think about how to resolve the knot of history through the wisdom and efforts of contemporary people, so that the unique blood and tears stories between the Taiwan Strait and Taiwan can no longer be repeated.
Cheng Lai-wen said, "The civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party has been going on for 70 years. Shouldn't it stop? Is there no way to turn the war into friendship?" Nowadays, Zhejiang, Fujian, and Taiwan are all prosperous places in the world. The two sides of the Taiwan Strait should no longer fight each other and fight each other, but should sit down for dialogue and communication. She believes that in 2026 in the 21st century, both sides of the Taiwan Strait have extremely high intellectual and economic standards and will definitely have the wisdom to transform this ocean into an ocean of peace, prosperity and hope.
Cheng Lai-wen also said that for the sake of the next generation, we must end the Cold War mentality, get rid of the situation at the forefront of the first island chain war, and use wisdom to transform the entire East Asia into a chain of peace and prosperity. It will not only bring cross-strait peace, but also become an engine driving peace in East Asia and global prosperity. She asked people who had returned to Dachen Island to visit relatives at the scene. After seeing many people raising their hands, she said that now everyone can travel freely, visit relatives, travel and do business. There is no need to expand non-existent hatred, and historical grudges can be gradually resolved.
Cheng Lai-wen warned that "time is running out" and stressed that we must not just watch war and military conflicts break out again across the Taiwan Strait. As we bear the blood and tears of the war in our family memories, we should do our best to promote cross-strait reconciliation and peace. Only peace can bring happiness to the next generation and eliminate the international community's concerns about war in the Taiwan Strait. She called for a very clear goal. We must first win the election on November 28 at the end of the year, strive for "big local wins in 26 years, and political party rotation in 28 years", so that the Kuomintang can return to power, bring spring flowers to both sides of the Taiwan Strait, and bring permanent peace, stability and prosperity.
