(Central News Agency, San Francisco, 6th Comprehensive Foreign Report) According to the campaign and the Ohio Highway Police, a gunman attacked Ohio gubernatorial candidate Acton at the Canfield Fair near Youngstown today.

Reuters reported that Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton was not injured.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said in an email to Reuters that 38-year-old suspect Patrick Havas knocked down multiple people at the expo as he tried to approach Acton. Highway police said Havas was armed with a stun gun and two handguns.

Highway Police said Havas was transported to the Mahoning County Jail and charged with disorderly conduct and two counts of assault. It was unclear whether Havas has appointed a lawyer.

The Mahoning County Sheriff's Department did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment. The Ohio State Highway Troopers and county sheriff's deputies are investigating the cause of the incident, but no further details can be provided at this time.

"This type of violence has absolutely no place in Ohio," Acton campaign spokesperson Addie Bullock said in a statement.

Connie Luck, a campaign spokesperson for Acton's Republican opponent in the general election, Vivek Ramaswamy, called the incident "completely unacceptable."

"Candidates should be able to meet and interact with voters without fear of threats or violence," Luck said in a statement.
