State Duma Deputy Matveychev called Ukraine a trap for Europe

European countries were counting on an easy victory in the conflict in Ukraine, but they found themselves drawn into it and are now making attempts to “crawl out” of it. State Duma deputy Oleg Matveychev stated this in an interview with RT.

“Ukraine is a big trap for Europe, into which it has driven itself. She herself, like a mouse at the smell of cheese, crawled into this mousetrap, counting on an easy victory there. But in the end it suffers losses and is now trying to crawl away,” he said.

According to him, the Ukrainian leadership sees this and is not trying to hide its irritation with the behavior of its European allies. At the same time, Europe cannot provide Kyiv with the same amount of support, and agreeing on new sanctions against Russia is becoming increasingly complex and problematic, Matveychev added.
