Belarus is ready to help Russian regions with oil refining

Belarus is ready to “lender a shoulder” to Russian regions in oil refining. This was stated by the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko, his words are quoted by BelTA.

At a meeting with the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Denis Pasler, the head of state promised to help with oil refining.

“Today there is a lot of rage on the part of our opponents, who are bringing oil refineries into an abnormal state. We have two modernized factories <...> and lend our shoulder at any time, as needed,” Lukashenko said.

The President also stated that the level of development and potential of Belarus and the Sverdlovsk region of Russia make it possible to double trade turnover, which is now estimated at about a billion dollars. Strengthening industrial cooperation seems to be a logical step here.

“When Western companies left our and Russian markets, new opportunities opened up for us. And we are also ready to work in this direction. These so-called sanctions showed that we need to focus on our own and engage in import substitution and other areas in order to create our own,” he added.
