At 10 o'clock on September 2, the rescue channel in the core area of Tibet's Jilong Port has been basically opened. Officers and soldiers of the People's Liberation Army and the Armed Police Force received instructions and advanced into the core area affected by the disaster. The reporter followed the officers and soldiers of a certain unit of the Shigatse Military Division in Tibet as they advanced toward the front line of disaster relief.
Driving on the 216 National Highway leading to the Geelong Port, vehicles were passing by, and many professional rescue vehicles were parked on the side of the road on standby. During the march, the sound of falling gravel could be heard from time to time.
In the military vehicle, Sergeant Second Class Qing Xufeng looked out of the vehicle with wide eyes. This was his third trip to the disaster area during this rescue mission.
"My hometown is in Songpan, Sichuan, where the Red Army marched through the grassland. Now joining the front line of rescue operations is my Long March." Qing Xufeng said that this year is his ninth year in border defense, and every expedition is the best inheritance of the spirit of his ancestors.
The mountain road was bumpy. Qing Xufeng tightened his grip on the equipment in his hands and looked toward the valley, his eyes becoming more determined.
As we marched towards the rescue site, the roar of machinery echoed in the valley. Under our feet was mud mixed with gravel. Every time we took a step, the mud tightly wrapped the uppers of our shoes.
At the core rescue site, officers and soldiers of the Shigatse Detachment of the Armed Police Tibet Corps bent down and dug themselves into the pile of mud. They raised and lowered their shovels repeatedly and carefully dug up the soil. "The faster we turn, the more hope we have." After Wang Wenhai, the squad leader of a certain squadron of the detachment, told reporters, he turned around and picked up the shovel to start the search operation.
Behind Wang Wenhai, Wang Xie Junhe, an armed police soldier in his early twenties, stood upright on a boulder. This huge boulder was rolled down here in the mud when the disaster occurred.
Wang Xie Junhe held a telescope in his hand and scanned the slope with vigilant eyes, inspecting the scene.
"When doing disinfection, everyone must be precise and efficient, effectively play the role of preventive disinfection, and be aware of environmental protection..." Li Guokai, captain of the Tibet Military Region's Medical and Epidemic Prevention Team, carefully warned at the rescue site.
Li Guokai told reporters that after receiving the emergency rescue order, the team quickly assembled and arrived in Geelong in 14 hours. After arriving, the team members quickly put into rescue, medical and epidemic prevention work.
"We are mainly carrying out key sterilization and epidemic prevention guidance in disaster areas." Li Guokai told reporters while helping team members inspect equipment.
On the front line of emergency response, search, rescue and disinfecting are critical tasks, and logistical support is also a key component of combat effectiveness.
Officers and soldiers from a brigade of the Qinghai-Tibet Military Station and the Shigatse Detachment of the Armed Police drove a plateau cooking truck to the rescue site. They were ready to cook a hot meal for all the rescuers.
"Our front-line comrades are constantly fighting for the rescue, which consumes a lot of money. We must do our best to provide logistical support. This dish is ready, take it away!" Cook Gou Jiacheng said loudly.
At 9 o'clock in the evening, as the night grew darker, Jilong Zangbo rumbled forward, and the rescue scene was still brightly lit.
