According to reports, Zhao Chunlong, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and secretary of the Party Central Committee, made a report on the preparations for the entry of the destroyer "Kang Gun" into service. Zhao Chunlong said that after the ship was launched, it went through a multi-stage professional evaluation test process, and its combat performance and credibility were comprehensively verified. The ship was officially included in the Korean People's Army Navy.

Kim Jong-un said in his speech that the destroyer "Kang Gun" is not only a comprehensive manifestation of North Korea's economic, national defense, scientific and technological strength, but also the crystallization of North Korea's self-esteem, will, and tenacious spirit in safeguarding its own rights and interests.

Kim Jong-un also stated that North Korea "has deployed its most powerful strategic assets in the most important waters and will demonstrate its principled and responsible will to safeguard the country's maritime sovereignty, the security environment of Northeast Asia and world peace." He once again reiterated the firm position of the North Korean party and government to continue to cultivate overwhelming military power that scares hostile forces.

On the same day, Kim Jong-un boarded the destroyer, inspected multiple battle spaces of the warship, extended warm congratulations and combat encouragement to all commanders and sailors, and met with the destroyer sailors on the bow deck.

According to reports, the navy commander issued a sailing order to the destroyer "Jiang Jian". The destroyer set sail with its whistle, fireworks burst into the sky, and balloons flew into the sky.
