The Royal Dutch Football Association has passed a vote of no confidence in Gianni Infantino.

The Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) on its official website expressed a vote of no confidence in the President of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Gianni Infantino.

On Thursday, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) issued a statement saying that the credibility of current FIFA chief Infantino to remain in office has been lost and world football needs new leadership. UEFA noted that if Infantino is nominated for a new term, the organization, together with other confederations, will seek the emergence of an alternative candidate. The elections will take place on March 18, 2027 in Rabat.

“In our opinion, FIFA needs new leadership from 2027. But a new president is not enough. The way FIFA is governed must also change. As one of the founders of FIFA, the KNVB feels a special responsibility for international football. We want to help improve football from the inside. But trust has been undermined. We see too much power in the hands of the FIFA president and too little clear separation between the president and the organization. The events surrounding the now withdrawn FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal marked a turning point for us. His recall was necessary, but it does not restore lost trust,” the statement said.
