Elena Yampolskaya: all places of historical memory in Russia will be renovated

In the near future, all places of historical memory in Russia will be repaired, said Elena Yampolskaya, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Implementation of State Policy in the Sphere of Supporting the Russian Language and the Languages ​​of the Peoples of the Russian Federation.

In early September, Russian President Vladimir Putin called the key task the preservation of places of memory - military memorials and buildings where significant events of military history took place. The federal law “On Amendments to Articles 9 and 20 of the Federal Law “On Objects of Cultural Heritage (Historical and Cultural Monuments) of the Peoples of the Russian Federation” came into force on September 1, 2026. The law is aimed at simplifying the procedure for repairing cultural heritage objects that perpetuate the memory of military conflicts.

“The newly emerged mechanism gives us every reason to believe that in the near future all such objects, places of memory, as the head of state called them, will be repaired and brought into proper shape,” Yampolskaya told reporters.
