Zakharova demanded that Japan recognize the results of World War II

Japan must fully recognize the results of World War II and take responsibility for unleashing aggression in Asia. This demand was made to Tokyo by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Maria Zakharova, reports Lenta.ru correspondent.

“Japan, being one of the main aggressors of the Second World War, does not recognize its results and diligently portrays itself as an almost innocent victim of an attack by Western powers. We once again call on Japan to fully recognize the results of the war and stop retouching the inhumane attempts at its history,” the diplomat said.

Zakharova noted that Japan refused to acknowledge its responsibility for unleashing aggression in the region and instead chose remilitarization, thereby “whitewashing its wartime crimes and intensifying discussions about revising the three non-nuclear principles.” According to a Foreign Ministry representative, such revanchist actions by official Tokyo “do not correspond to the aspirations of the Japanese people.”
