Seosan City accelerates efforts to attract additional international cruise ships

Seosan = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong Yun-deok = Seosan City, South Chungcheong Province, announced on the 1st that it will accelerate efforts to attract additional international cruise ships.

Seosan City is discussing with relevant organizations to allow the 100,000-ton international cruise ship 'Vizio', which arrived at Daesan Port carrying 1,620 Chinese tourists on the 27th of last month, to call again next month.

The international cruise ship 'Costa Serena' has departed from Seosan once a year starting in 2024, but the Vizio was the first to depart from another country and call at Seosan.

The city plans to actively pursue attracting other international cruise ships, including the Chinese-flagged 'Dream' ship, in the second half of the year.

At the 28th Korea-China shipping talks held on the 4th to 5th of last month, the establishment of an international passenger ship route between Daesan Port and Shidao Port in Longcheng, Shandong Province, China three times a week was confirmed.

The city plans to identify and pursue tasks to establish Daesan Port as an international gateway, such as expanding port infrastructure and expanding stay-at-home tourism.

Mayor Lee Wan-seop said, "Daesan Port, which was completed in 2011, has been attracting attention as an international gateway for people to travel for more than 10 years," and added, "We will continue to do our best in various aspects to ensure that Daesan Port's potential is fully demonstrated."
