A former Israeli security official on the assassination attempt of Yair Netanyahu: “This is crazy... and Iran is not about to collapse.”

Israeli sources said that the evacuation of Netanyahu's son was the result of an "Iranian threat" targeting him.

According to the details, the protection system accompanying Yair Netanyahu was reinforced with members of the Shin Bet Personal Protection Unit, who were present in the United States as part of a mission to secure Israeli President Isaac Herzog during his visit to New York.

Maariv reported that the headquarters of the Personal Protection Unit in central Israel made a decision to send a number of members of the President’s Protection Team to Miami to enhance protection around Yair Netanyahu, where they participated in the process of removing him from the apartment in which he was staying.

The Shin Bet protection team carried out the evacuation operation with the support of members who arrived from New York, before transporting Yair Netanyahu and returning him urgently to Israel, according to the newspaper.

On Saturday evening, the Israeli General Security Agency (Shin Bet) announced (Saturday) that Yair Netanyahu was indeed under threat from Iranian agents. He said in an official statement: “There was indeed a significant threat to harm Yair Netanyahu, and accordingly, after conducting an assessment of the situation, it was decided to urgently evacuate him, along with the protection team, and return him to Israel.”

As previously reported, the alleged Iranian assassination plot that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke about at the beginning of the week was targeting his eldest son, Yair Netanyahu. According to a report published by the American Newsmax network, last December, Israeli intelligence officials revealed an Iranian attempt to harm him during his stay in Florida.

According to Newsmax, Iranian agents were present in the Miami area and carried out surveillance and monitoring of Yair Netanyahu's residence in Hollandale Beach, as well as his daily movements.

Following the information obtained, an urgent warning was sent to the American authorities. Netanyahu's son, who was at the time under Israeli protection, was instructed to leave his residence immediately. According to the report, the urgency was such that he had to leave some of his belongings behind and return to Israel. He currently resides in Israel.

Netanyahu said in a recent live broadcast that Iran “targeted” one of his sons and attempted to assassinate him, but he did not specify which one of his sons was the intended target, nor when the attempted harm occurred, or to what stage the plan reached.

The media has not yet published information about Iranian retaliatory intentions and attempts to target senior officials, but Netanyahu decided to reveal these matters himself. He used it to explain why the protection imposed on his family members was not a "luxury", saying: "Without that - they will succeed."
