A new stage of asphalting the route to Ust-Bolsheretsk has begun in Kamchatka

P.-KAMCHATSKY, August 17 – RIA Novosti. A new stage of modernization has begun on the regional highway connecting Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky with Ust-Bolsheretsk, within which road services have begun paving 23 kilometers of roadway, the government of the Kamchatka Territory reported.

This is the largest project of its kind on the peninsula, implemented as part of the new national project “Infrastructure for Life”.

“The route to Ust-Bolsheretsk is one of the most popular destinations outside the regional capital, so laying asphalt here becomes an important milestone. The road for many years did not meet modern requirements, but last year we managed to turn the situation around and achieve federal funding. Work continues. Now the long-term problem is being solved: the road is becoming step by step more comfortable - exactly what the residents deserve,” the press service of the Governor of the Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Solodov quotes.

According to the authorities, work is being carried out in three sections - from the 10th to the 15th, from the 15th to the 20th and from the 20th to the 33rd kilometer. This season it is planned to lay at least 10 kilometers of asphalt - twice as much as last year. The remaining 13 kilometers will be paved in 2027. More than 50 pieces of heavy special equipment are used at the site, including motor graders, bulldozers, excavators and dump trucks.

The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky - Ust-Bolsheretsk highway (about 215–220 km long) connects the capital of the region with the southwestern and western coasts of the peninsula, providing year-round communication with the Ust-Bolsheretsky municipal district. This is one of the main fishing centers of Kamchatka - the route allows you to deliver fish and seafood to the regional center. Along the road, fuel, food, construction materials and equipment are transported to areas of the west coast.
