Taiwanese businessmen and enterprises in Zhejiang donated money to the landslide-stricken area in Jilong, Tibet to support disaster relief

China News Service, Hangzhou, September 5 (Guo Qiyao) On August 26, a mudslide disaster occurred on the Nepal side, causing heavy casualties and loss of contact at the Gyirong Port in Gyirong County, Shigatse City, Tibet. After the disaster, Taiwanese businessmen and enterprises in Zhejiang took action spontaneously. Donations and concerns were sent across thousands of miles to the snowy plateau.

Lin Qiuyu, honorary president of the Hangzhou Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprises Association, together with Hangzhou Huapu Industrial Co., Ltd., donated 100,000 yuan to the Jilong disaster area through the Zhejiang Provincial Red Cross Society, specifically for disaster relief work. At the same time, Taiwanese company Hongxing Technology (Group) Co., Ltd. also donated 100,000 yuan through the Shigatse Charity Federation.

In Ningbo, on the coast of the East China Sea, many Taiwanese businessmen and enterprises took action after hearing the news. Ningbo Pele Electronics Co., Ltd., Ningbo Antuo Industrial Co., Ltd., Yangming Hot Spring Villa, Cixi Yongjin Frozen Food Co., Ltd., Ningbo Youxin Electric Co., Ltd., etc. donated money, with a total donation of more than 300,000 yuan.

"Compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are a family connected by blood. When we heard the news that compatriots were killed in the disaster, we felt particularly heavy. We were also thinking about the living arrangements of the people affected by the disaster. We hope that we can take practical actions to help everyone tide over the difficulties and rebuild their homes as soon as possible." Zhu Youren, president of the Jiaxing Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprise Association, said that the association donated 100,000 yuan to the Jilong disaster area through the Shigatse Charity Federation, specifically for the transitional resettlement, livelihood security and post-disaster reconstruction of the disaster-stricken people.

After the Geelong mudslide disaster, the Yiwu Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprises Association Charity Fund urgently launched a disaster relief response and allocated 15,000 yuan from the association's charity fund. At the same time, Guo Wenqing, president of the Yiwu Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprises Association, donated 5,000 yuan in his own name and directed it to the Tibet Autonomous Region Red Cross, all of which was used for emergency relief in the Geelong disaster area, resettlement of the affected people, and post-disaster reconstruction work.

"We are very worried to learn that a serious landslide disaster occurred in Jilong. Although this donation is limited in amount, it represents the sincerity of Taiwanese businessmen in Yiwu to their Tibetan compatriots. We hope that the people in the disaster area can overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes as soon as possible." Guo Wenqing said.

Previously, at a regular press conference held by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council on the 2nd, Taiwanese people from all walks of life and Taiwanese compatriots and Taiwanese enterprises in mainland China expressed concern and condolences to the disaster-stricken area in Jilong, and donated money to the affected areas and people. Zhang Han, spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, pointed out that this reflects the feelings of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait who are thicker than water and help each other.
