The jury of the Moscow City Court returned a guilty verdict in the criminal case of the stabbed Social Insurance Fund (FSS) employee Oleg Gvozdev. Kommersant writes about this.

Seven out of eight jurors found Kabardino-Balkaria native Aslan Khagundokov guilty and not deserving of leniency for a crime committed in 2012. At the same time, the motive for the massacre remained a mystery; neither investigators nor the jury could figure it out during the consideration of the case, the publication notes.

According to investigators, on November 19, 2012, Khagundokov and an unidentified accomplice stabbed 33-year-old Gvozdev, the head of the department for organizing the placement of orders for state needs of the FSS, several times in the heart area. He was found without signs of life in the courtyard of a house on Sadovaya-Spasskaya Street in the center of Moscow. He was associated with the gambling business in the Moscow region together with Ivan Nazarov, whose establishments were under the “roof” of the prosecutor’s office, but a number of criminal cases did not end in anything.

Khagundokov’s lawyer points out that there is no direct evidence of his client’s guilt in the case, and he questioned the results of the genetic examination. At the same time, Khagundokov was involved in the case of the massacre of Gvozdev, when he was serving a 13-year sentence for another crime, the victim of which was Rostov businessman Pyotr Arzhanik. He was found with a gunshot wound in a garage on April 21, 2014. The investigation there also did not establish a motive.

In 2025, Khagundokov was acquitted in the case of the massacre of Gvozdev, but the prosecutor’s office managed to overturn the verdict and reconsider the case.
