Russian scientists announced an imminent victory over several types of cancer

Scientific director of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology (NICEM) named after N.F. Gamaleya of the Russian Ministry of Health Alexander Ginzburg said that several types of cancer can be defeated in the near future. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to Gunzburg, new immune therapy for cancer will make it possible to defeat various types of cancer. It includes personalized vaccines and checkpoint inhibitors.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, within the framework of the national project “New Health Saving Technologies,” announced the registration of ten vital drugs. Among them are drugs for the treatment of various types of cancer, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and other diseases.

New developments

Ginzburg said that Russia has created a prototype vaccine for the most common cancer - non-small cell lung cancer. It is most often diagnosed in smokers.

The head of the Gamaleya Center said that specialists are now creating cancer vaccines against other types of malignant tumors. All new developments are based on the technology that previously formed the basis of the Neoonkovak melanoma vaccine.

In turn, the head of the FMBA, Veronika Skvortsova, stated that the agency is preparing to release two drugs for the treatment of glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive brain tumors.

Melanoma vaccine

According to Gunzburg, the body of the first patient who received the Russian melanoma vaccine gave a positive immune response. The scientist said that the man feels well and is ready to continue treatment.

The personalized Neooncovac vaccine was administered to a man with skin cancer in April. It was developed at the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology together with the Blokhin National Medical Research Center for Oncology. The drug is produced by the National Medical Research Center of Radiology.

Treatment under compulsory medical insurance

State Duma deputy Alexei Kurinny argued that vaccination could become the main method of treating cancer. He emphasized that immunology is the future.
