US Allegation of Oil Tanker Operation in the Strait of Hormuz

According to Axios, citing unnamed US officials, 15 to 20 oil tankers pass through the southern channel of the Strait of Hormuz every night, entering and exiting the region as part of the operation that has been going on for several weeks.

US officials claimed that approximately 10 million barrels of oil per day were delivered to world energy markets through the Strait of Hormuz.

Officials stated that this amount corresponded to approximately half of the pre-war level, but claimed that it made a significant contribution to reducing disruptions in global oil supply.

Officials claimed that the operation did not only include the safe removal of oil-laden tankers from the strait, but also that the US army helped empty tankers enter the Persian Gulf from the Oman Sea through the Strait of Hormuz.

Claiming that the operation was managed from the Fort Bragg base in the US state of North Carolina, the authorities claimed that the ships moved in two separate convoys, one leaving the strait and the other entering, at specified time intervals every night, and passing through the southern channel in line with the directions of the US army.

US officials stated that the operation became possible after a two-week military operation in which the US Central Command (CENTCOM) targeted Iran's radar and maritime surveillance systems.
