Unmanned Submarine Crisis Between the USA and Iran

Speaking to Reuters, a US official said on Tuesday that the US army's unmanned submarine experienced a technical malfunction while conducting an inspection in regional waters in connection with the Iran war.

The official claimed that the faulty vehicle was an old model and did not carry any hidden sonar or radar equipment.

He added that the technical malfunction occurred more than a day ago.

STATEMENT FROM THE REVOLUTIONARY GUARDS

In its statement broadcast on state television, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that it had seized an unmanned marine vehicle belonging to the US army.

The statement stated that "one of the newest smart and unmanned submarines belonging to the US army was seized at the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz." The Revolutionary Guard claimed that the vehicle was seized as a result of an operation described as 'complex'.

According to Iranian state media, the main capabilities of the unmanned marine vehicle include underwater exploration and surveillance activities, mapping of the seabed, mine detection and inspection of undersea cables and pipelines.

The Revolutionary Guards stated that the images of the captured unmanned submarine will be shared with the public "in the coming hours."
