Lefau kicks one to bring Tigers back within a point
A
By Andrew McGarry
This has been scrappy entering time on, with several behinds including a rushed behind to the Kangaroos.
But the Tigers hit back, with a goal to Mykelti Lefau, who has overcome his close encounter with the Sherrin earlier.
It's back to a point!
Jasper Alger gets one back for Richmond
A
By Andrew McGarry
That was much needed, with Richmond getting the ball to Jasper Alger up front, and the 19-year-old slotted his team's second goal of the day.
Painful moment for Richmond's Mykelti Lefau
A
By Andrew McGarry
It's hard enough playing footy when all you have to worry about is the opposition. It's worse when you have to worry about the ball becoming the enemy,
Mykelti Lefau is left sore after copping a Sherrin fair in the face there. Not sure if it was friendly fire or not, but that must have stung. He's ok, but would be wishing that hadn't happened.
A great goal from the Kangaroos

Cooper Trembath is working in the ruck, he just won the tap to Luke Davies-Uniacke, who broke a tackle (eventually) and found Finn O'Sullivan, and O'Sullivan kicked to Nick Larkey inside 50.
The North spearhead kicked it truly, and that's two goals in two-and-a-half minutes. They lead by 11 points.
North Melbourne hit the front!
A
By Andrew McGarry
That was better from North Melbourne!
Harry Sheezel got the ball and sent it to Colby McKercher, who used a serious fend-off to keep a Tigers defender away, then hit up Cooper Trembath in the pocket.
And Trembath's kick from the left side of 50 was good!
The Kangaroos lead.
Richmond attack ends in a point
A
By Andrew McGarry
The Tigers have been on the attack to start the second term.
The Kangaroos struggled to get the ball out of their half, and turned it over, Noah Balta had it 55 out.
He went for a chip over the back for a teammate, but the kick drifted and ran through for a point. They need to be sharper than that, but the Tigers lead by a point.
QT stats
A
By Andrew McGarry
Inside 50s: 11-10 Richmond
Clearances: 7-4 Richmond
Centre clearances: 1-1
Contested possessions: 33-30 Richmond
Uncontested possessions: 81-70 North Melbourne
Marks inside 50: 4-0 North Melbourne
Tackles: 13-11 North Melbourne
After an even first quarter, the standout stats are the clearances going Richmond's way, and the marks inside 50 4-0 to the Kangaroos.
If North can get those marks in better spots - or their players manage to find their kicking boots - things could get busy.
QT: Richmond 1.2 (8) level with North Melbourne 1.2 (8)

A late point from Charlie Spargo brings North level, and as the siren sounds, it ends a spirited but not spectacular quarter at the MCG.
Neither side has set the world on fire in attack, but there is room for improvement. We'll see what happens after the break.
George Wardlaw brings Kangaroos level
A
By Andrew McGarry
It took a while (quite a while!) but the Kangaroos have a goal.
They forced a forward 50 stoppage, and Tristan Xerri got the tap to George Wardlaw, who kicked the opener for North.
We are deep in time on, and this hasn't exactly been a classic so far, but you can't have a closer game!
Better from the Kangaroos - but the kick for goal wasn't
A
By Andrew McGarry
The Kangaroos have been penned in their D50 for several minutes, but they broke out just there.
A long kick down the corridor was marked by Finn O'Sullivan, who then fed it to Colby McKercher before another long kick inside 50 to Zane Duursma in loads of space.
He marked, but pulled the kick.
That's North's first point. They trail by six.
Richmond raising the pressure on North
A
By Andrew McGarry
After struggling through the first few minutes at the MCG, the Tigers have been getting on top with pressure on the Kangaroos.
It hasn't led to more scores, but the Kangaroos are yet to kick a point. We are about to enter time on.
Tigers surprise with the first goal of the game
A
By Andrew McGarry
Well it's against the run of play, but Richmond are first on the board!
They kicked it inside 50, it comes out again but an intercept mark from the Tigers sets it up, a chip to Tim Taranto, who drops it but the ball falls for Sam Cumming, who runs and kicks it between the sticks to draw a roar from the Richmond fans!
Kangaroos dominating inside 50s
A
By Andrew McGarry
We've been going a while, with under 13 minutes on the clock, and the Kangaroos are gradually turning the screw on Richmond.
So far North has six inside 50s, compared to just one for the Tigers, who are finding it hard to get out of their own half right now.
Tristan Xerri playing up forward early
A
By Andrew McGarry
That's an interesting call by North coach Alastair Clarkson - he has big man Tristan Xerri pushing forward rather than staying in the ruck.
Cooper Trembath's big leap was used for the opening stoppage, since then it's been a pretty open game with few if any stoppages.
First shot on goal is out on the full!
A
By Andrew McGarry
It's been a funny old start at the MCG, with an end-to-end flow, before the Tigers stopped a Kangaroos attack and cleared.
The ball came back in, but Colb McKercher's kick on the run skewed well off to the right and out on the full.
We are underway at the MCG

Here we go at headquarters on a much nicer afternoon weather-wise than last night's wet and windy contest between Collingwood and Port Adelaide.
The Kangaroos will be the favourites, aiming for a second-straight win - can the Tigers hang in there and cause the upset?

North Melbourne has won five of the last six encounters between these two sides, despite their struggles in recent seasons. However extending this out, the Kangaroos have only one six out of the last 11.
The last two meetings have been blowouts — one at Docklands, one in Tasmania. However three of the last six matches have been decided by 13 points or less.
First players named for AFLW Australia vs Ireland game
A
By Andrew McGarry
Some of AFLW's biggest stars will represent Australia in the Australian Rules one-off clash against Ireland in August.
The first names have emerged for both the Australian and Irish teams, mixing experience and up-and-coming talent.
Reigning AFLW Best and Fairest Ash Riddell will be there for Australia along with her North Melbourne teammate Jasmine Garner, Melbourne's Kate Hore, Richmond star Monique Conti and Brisbane's Courtney Hodder, along with Geelong's Georgie Prespakis, Port Adelaide's Matilda Schulz and Sydney's Zippy Fish.
For the Irish, there is plenty of talent to choose from with more than 40 players in the AFLW.
Three of the players named today - Carlton's Dayna Finn, Hawthorn's Aine McDonagh and Fremantle's Aisling McCarthy - are their clubs' reigning best-and-fairests.
Also in are Brisbane dual premiership player Orla O'Dwyer, Geelong's Aishling Moloney, Adelaide's Niamh Kelly, Collingwood's Sarah Rowe and North Melbourne's Erika O'Shea.
Unlike previous Australia-Ireland (men's) matches, this game will be played with an Australian Rules ball rather than the round ball of Gaelic football.
It will be played at North Sydney Oval on August 1, and tickets go on sale this Wednesday.
