Aliyev Met with Pashinyan on Peace and Cooperation

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev came to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting. According to the statement made by the Presidency of Azerbaijan, Aliyev had a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan within the framework of his contacts at the SCO meeting.

During the meeting, attention was drawn to the historical importance of the Washington Peace Summit held on August 8, 2025, the Joint Declaration signed by President Aliyev and Prime Minister Pashinyan in the presence of US President Donald Trump, as well as the initialing of the agreed text of the agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The export of Azerbaijani petroleum products to Armenia, the transit of grain and other commodities from third countries to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory, as well as the establishment of commercial relations between the two countries were noted as important concrete indicators of remaining faithful to peace. The leaders also welcomed contacts between business communities and exchanged views on the possibilities of further expanding mutually beneficial economic, trade and energy cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties pointed out the role of the relevant state commissions in the delimitation of the state border between Azerbaijan and Armenia and expressed the importance of these commissions continuing their work in accordance with the agreements reached between the two countries. Leaders discussed the next steps to be taken regarding the implementation of the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP), one of the important results of the Washington Peace Summit, and pointed out the importance of connectivity projects along the TRIPP route.
