Amit Shah Hails Security Forces for Dismantling ISI-Backed Terror Network Ahead of Independence Day

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday hailed the security forces for dismantling the ISI-backed Shahzad Bhatti terror network ahead of Independence Day. He said more than 200 operatives were arrested and plans for subversive attacks were thwarted.

In a post on X, Amit Shah said coordinated operations were carried out across 14 states to dismantle the network and prevent potential attacks. "Modi govt destroyed the ISI-backed terror group Shahzad Bhatti Network ahead of Independence Day and thwarted its plans for subversive attacks by arresting more than 200 operatives. Indian security forces ripped apart the network by launching coordinated operations across different locations in 14 states upholding a brilliant example of India's zero-tolerance towards terrorism. Substantial recoveries, including IEDs, grenades bearing Pakistan Ordnance Factory markings, pistols, live cartridges, and CCTV cameras used for espionage, were made from the ISI-funded group. The network was involved in several terrorist activities."

Amit Shah said the coordinated action by Indian security agencies demonstrated the government's stated policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism. According to the home minister, the operations were conducted at multiple locations across the country and resulted in the recovery of explosives, firearms, ammunition and surveillance equipment. The alleged network was described by Shah as ISI-funded, with the recovered grenades reportedly bearing Pakistan Ordnance Factory markings. The crackdown comes ahead of Independence Day celebrations, when security agencies traditionally intensify surveillance and counter-terror operations to prevent possible attacks and disruption. Shah said the arrests and recoveries had helped thwart the network's alleged plans for subversive activities and underlined the role of coordinated operations by security forces across states.
