Anthropic publishes report to prevent biological misuse of artificial intelligence

A report was published by the artificial intelligence company Anthropic to detect the misuse of this technology and take precautions against it.

The report emphasized that one of the biggest risks of artificial intelligence models is "biological misuse" and pointed out that the concern that artificial intelligence could reach the level of ability to make existing pathogens more dangerous or help produce new pathogens has been on the agenda for a long time. The report included examples of people using the company's artificial intelligence models in a way that could support the development of biological weapons.

In one of these examples, it was stated that a researcher working in an unsupported region worked with Claude to plan experiments on the adaptation of bird flu to mammals, and in another example, it was noted that a government-supported researcher redesigned toxins in a computer environment. It was pointed out that after the detection of these cases, the users' accounts were blocked and steps were taken to prevent such activities more effectively in the future.

The report underlines that it is not claimed that the people in these examples have "malicious intentions" and that they are just being cautious, adding: "By sharing these examples, we hope to initiate a dialogue about the biological risks emerging in the artificial intelligence sector and how they can be countered most effectively." The expression was used.
